The ART of Blessing a Home-Balinese Traditions and Sacred Intentions

ree

Hello, Hello my friend,

I want to share my experience from last week,

when I had the honor of attending to a Balinese

house blessing ceremony—a sacred event held for dear

friends of mine as they prepare to begin a new chapter

in their lives and home.🌿

This wasn't just a ceremony, which lasted

around 3.5 hours; it was a reminder of the power

of intention, community, and connection to the natural world.

🌺 Building a Home in Bali: Blessing the Spirits of the Land

The most crucial aspect of building a home in

Bali is this ceremony, which blesses the spirits

of the land, even before moving in.

💫Understanding the Spirits of the Land

Spirits such as the rice spirit, elephant food spirit,

And dry land spirit inhabits the land.

They have distinct forms and dwellings and

interact with the environment.

Today's ceremony communicated to these

spirits, stating that this land will no longer be for

the rice spirit or elephant spirit, but rather

for the human spirit.

In response to the spirits' query, "Okay, where are we supposed to go?" the priest provided guidance:

Priest: "You have a new, cleaner, and higher

home, where you and your ancestors can reside

for all time. But now, this space will be

for the human spirit, and humans will live here."

This transformation was the most significant

part of today's ceremony: the house and land became

THE HOUSE OF THE HUMAN. 🏡

🪷The Offerings & Rituals

Traditional Balinese offerings include food,

flowers, and fruit—but today, I also saw a few

dead chickens, frogs, cooked foods,

and even a can of Bintang beer 🍺 as part of the blessings.

It was a reminder that offerings

don’t need to be polished—they need to be

real, intentional, and in tune with

the land and its spirits.

Then, the four-part ceremony began—led by a

Balinese priest, flowing with prayer, chant, movement,

and the sacred use of water and smoke.

Each phase invited energy in, purified

the space with holy water , honored the

ancestors and spirits, and sealed the home in protection

and blessing. ✨

🌿 Why This Matters to My Practice

In my work, I constantly emphasize the

importance of sound clearing, Palo Santo, and

Vibrational cleansing is an essential step when aligning a home.

But today reminded me that it’s not about what

tool you use—it’s about how you use it.

This ceremony wasn’t a performance. It wasn’t for show.

It was steeped in deep intention, and that’s

the piece I see often missing in many

modern-day practices.

🙏The Most Important Ingredient

Even those who say they’re doing the energetic work sometimes forget the most important ingredient: presence.

Feng Shui is—and has always

been—about harmonizing with nature, aligning

With the rhythms of the Earth 🍃, and creating

spaces that support life force. But somewhere along

The way that sacred connection gets diluted

When the rituals become routine, or when the intention

It isn’t crystal clear.

What This Showed Me

This Melaspas was more than a cultural experience. It was a spiritual reminder.

💫A reminder that energy work is sacred.

💫That intention must lead the way.

💫That true alignment comes from presence, not performance.

And that we are always invited to

deepen our own rituals—not to imitate, but

to reconnect with what matters: the Earth 🌎, the energy,

and the unseen forces that hold us.

As I continue to guide clients in

aligning their homes and lives through Feng Shui,

I bring this experience with me—rooted in

reverence, fueled by presence, and aligned with nature. 🌱
